Strengthening Your Personal Brand

When we talk about building up your brand, it is not as simple as creating a unique or easy recall of your company’s name. Or choose a color or two and a fancy logo. Each decision that you mean for these should have a strategic approach. The design that you will need is something that can speak out who you really are. Those combinations of colors and curves should symbolize who you are. Thus, it would require having a knowledgeable team with clear-cut communication and design skills and, most importantly, an absolute understanding of your brand.

Does it intimidate you? It may be so; however, it shouldn’t be. With the proper guidance, you can propel your way through the whole process and create a unique brand identity.

Ways To Build Your Brand

The brand identity is your brand’s overall look, including the name, visual appearance, trademark, and communications. It is simply saying that what you portray yourself through these different aspects identifies you as your brand. Just like how Nike has the “swoosh” logo, which was derived from a goddess’ wing, this means power, speed, motivation, and movement. That brand has been exceptionally successful since it shouts quality which has been personified by numerous celebrities has an excellent reputation in sports.

You can communicate and differentiate yourself from the competition through your brand, allowing you to build a brand experience that engages people. I am sure that you have your own favorite brands. Now let me ask you, what has driven you to like them? What qualities do those brands have compared to others that stood out?

Here are the factors that affect consumer’s brand preference:

      1.  The company should identify its target market and address a problem. When you have placed your target market, you must know their capacity to purchase your product (within their budget?) You need services or products to help them achieve their desires.

      2.  Creating value for the products and/ or services by positioning your brand over your competitors. Through this, you need to let the consumers know what is unique about you and what more they can get from you than your competitor.

      3.  Making the consumers feel that they are being valued. Basically, the way you speak to your customers has a significant impact. Suppose you do not welcome criticisms or are not open to suggestions, and you reply in an unfriendly tone. In that case, the customer will likely find another brand. Trust is crucial in business. Thus, it is essential that what you tell your customers should always make them feel being heard and valued.

Chatbots have become extremely popular these days. It is essential that when you use these to respond to online inquiries is, to make it “sound” like a human and not just react to an answer robotically. The chatbot should capture your brand personality.

     4.  Customers are likely to respond positively to a brand with a purpose that they can relate to. For example, some brands would extend a certain amount from their sales to a worthy cause, such as feeding the homeless, providing a student’s monthly allowance, or donating medications for the elderly. Through this, the brand engages its customers in something meaningful. Their customers become their partners in strengthening their advocacy to help others in need.

     5.  Exude the values that truly differentiate your brand. Supporting evident causes like fighting against drug addiction or taking your stand against human rights violations. Your clear message is likely to attract people who also support these causes.

Therefore, consistency is crucial when you want customers to start flocking into your store. When consumers realize this and have proven how much effort you put into making a brand trustworthy, there is no stopping your brand from becoming the star!
